Endurancelife Festival - Report and photo's from Sabine

Jo Obertell, Lorayne Hockin, Charlie Ward and myself went to Devon for a sport festival this week end.
It was the Endurancelife Festival, and sounded great from their website: "
This weekend festival of endurance and adventure is essentially a mashup of sporting challenges including Coastal Trail Series trail runs, Adventure Racing, a brand new Aquatrail event plus a great selection of taster activities and two inspirational evenings of talks from athletes and adventurers with extraordinary stories to tell.
Throw in some cool live music, a buzzing event village and a campsite that overlooks the beach and we think you've got the makings of a pretty awesome weekend which the whole family will enjoy."
I'm sure they said there was a race round here somewhere......
We did an adventure race on Saturday, Jo and Charlie did an aquatrail on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning we all did an 8 miles coastal trail. We didn't have any rain apart from Friday night, but we all froze in our tents! Which means that on Saturday night a lot of us decided to sleep in our car where it was slightly warmer!!
I did the run part only of the adventure race with my daughter Nina, who loved it, and ran for 2h15 without getting tired. She then did the kayak part with a friend.
Jo did the bike part of the adventure race with her daughter Abbey and Charlie's daughter Sarah.
Lorayne did the adventure race with her sister, and a member of the endurance life team, which gave her the chance to learn how to do adventure racing professionally.
Jo and Charlie then did the aquatrail, which is a new format of racing where you run and swim in very quick succession for 10km. Fine in August, but this weekend the sea was freezing!!
Sunday morning the sun was out for our coastal trail run of 8 miles, which had stunning scenery.
All in all it was a great week end with lots of camaraderie and fun. Hopefully more will come next year!

Some pictures from the event are
