Results of September 2012 10K Handicap Race

Bit of a chilly morning on this last day of September but a good turnout for our Club 10K Time Trial
It was nice to see a lot of our members wearing their new club attire. A few new faces were spotted testing out our course.
As our official photographer, Nathan tuned up a little too late to take part in the run, but had a good excuse as he had just polished off a Triathlon earlier that morning, well done!
Helping out with the timing this morning were the two Daves (Pearce & Smith) who very kindly bought me a nice hot cup of coffee after the initial send off
Keith, deputising for Mark,  set out his stall after the run to flog off his wears, as quite a few members invested in some new kit.

The beast, Corfe Castle "A girls day out".

This past Sunday was "The Beast" at Corfe Castle.
Lorayne, Laura, Sachiko and I all set off together, which was a nice way to make our way to Corfe, as we chatted all the way down (and all the way back up also!) Tips, racing strategies, hydration, fuelling and all manner of subjects were discussed. Definitely the best way to get to a race!
We met up with Keith in the car park, and that made the Windle Valley team.
The weather was horrible -drizzle and strong wind- as I had just come back from temperatures as high as 38 degrees, but I was told it was perfect racing weather!
The race itself I found surprisingly easy considering my lack of training, and Sachiko, Lorayne and I all finished within 1 minute of each other with times respectively of 1h58, 1h59 and 1h59. I was over the moon with my time, which was a 10 minutes improvement on my previous PB. Laura was 4th overall and 1st vet 35 with a time of 1h42, and Keith did 1h45.
So all in all, a good day, with good company and great race results for everybody!
