Race News - ones to look out for!

Hi everyone,

What a great turnout this morn for our WV 10K and well done to those for remembering to don their red colours to acknowledge support to the British Heart Foundation.

BIG thanks to Steve and Tony for time recording and also to Bob and Dave for helping.

Here's some races coming up that you may like to consider:

Combe Gibbet to Overton (Sunday 1 April) - a 16 mile cross country race, over undulating ground through beautiful countryside. I have done this one before and do recommend it - a lovely day out.

Wokingham Half Marathon Report by Robin Wakefield

Hi All,

A nice chilly start to Sunday's race, a little windy on some of the open stretches.  A larger field than I seem to remember for Wokingham - it took about 4 minutes to get to the start line once the race got going.  I was on Chris's heels for a mile or so, but he gradually pulled away.  Tony shouted out some encouragement at mile 2, and Martin overtook me at around 3 miles.  I was on target for a 1:50 finish,  but started to feel tired after around 8 miles.  I'd fallen over on some black ice the weekend before, so I was nursing sore ribs - that's my excuse anyway!  Tony was there again at around the 9 mile mark, urging me on.  My last few times for Wokingham have ranged from 1:52:09 - 2:03:12 (that was when it was pushed back to the end of May, in 2009, on what was the hottest day of that year!), so when I crossed the line in 1:54:50, I was pretty happy.  My wife Lucia, was also supporting me this year, so it was nice to see her at the end too!  Congratulations to everyone, especially those who PB'd it, and here's a photo of some of us at the end, courtesy of Lucia.

Wokingham Half Marathon 19 Feb 2012 - well done runners!

A big 'WELL DONE' to our runners today who raced around the Wokingham 1/2, some great results achieved; a big 'THANK YOU' also for the great support shown to us along the route.

Jo and I thought we were being clever in avoiding the queues for the bag tent, and left them in what happened to be the male changing rooms - interesting bag retrieval at the end!!

Results are up on the site for anyone interested: http://www.wokinghamhalfmarathon.co.uk/WokinghamHM2012ResultsV1.pdf

Yay, Snow!

The snow arrived as forecast, setting us up perfectly for a run in the forest today. Though most of the Marathon Training group were running elsewhere, nine hardy souls turned out to enjoy making fresh tracks (and a snow angel) in the few inches of snow that had fallen.
