Sunday 29th April - Club 10K and Bracknell Half

Well, if you were one of the helpers, it was really vile weather. If you were one of the runners, it was also really vile weather!

There's a runner there somewhere.....
Anyway, our notebook has dried out enough to be able to get the pages apart and read the results of this morning's 10K. Well done to our 15 valiant runners, including Anne-Marie who twisted her ankle in the wet and was unable to finish the course. We hope you are over it quickly Anne-Marie. Well done as well to the five soggy helpers, Dave, Nathan, Dee, Bob and Steve, who escaped after the start to the only coffee bar in Windlesham that doesn't have any table or chairs, but did serve nice hot chocolate for us to drink standing up.

The results were:

Peter Mannion 39.02
Laura Hales 42.02
Keith Hull 42.09
Geoff Williams 42.51
Russell Conaway 44.50
Roland Clapton 45.40 PB
Jo Obertell 45.43 PB
John Coffey 50.38
Nick Askem 50.52
Mark Coxhead 53.06
Malcolm Vaughan 53.52
Pam Berriman 54.12
Lyn Taylor 56.10
Yvonne Lubbock 57.13

Brave souls!

But at least twice as brave were those taking on the Bracknell Half Marathon today, with a 9.00am start and the wind blowing the rain sideways across South Hill Park.

The survivors were:

Danny Mahoney 1:24:19
Julia Robinson 1:32:25
Gordon Trout 1:47:53

Those times gave all three age-graded ratings around 72%. Looking outside the top 20 finishers in the race, very few had age-gradings over 70% so this was excellent running all round, great stuff!

  1. I'd like to give a big vote of thanks to John for kindly guiding me round the course on my first run.
Much appreciated John - thank you!
