Three of our members were competing in the Great South Run today, alongside 17,000 others - bet it was cold and blowy for the last two miles along the seafront, brrrrrr (it usually is!)
Well done to Johnny Deebank with 1.12 19, Richard Sherlock with 1.23.50, and Lisa Norman with 1.43.12. We await a full report.......

October 10K Results
There was a good turnout on a chilly but calm morning today - 26 of our members contested the 10K handicap, and the conditions helped quite a few to new personal best times, as noted below. This year, nobody forgot that the clocks had gone back the night before, so everyone turned up at the right time!Fastest time of the day was set by Pete Jones, whilst Sabine El Bacha was the best at predicting her time, only 4 seconds out (and Nick Cook was the least accurate, being nearly 4 minutes quicker than he forecast!!)
Thanks to all the helpers - Geoff, Bob, Dave, Chris and Steve. Any errors in the results below are all Steve's, though.

Abingdon Marathon Sun 21 Oct
Report from Laura…..
Keith and I left at 7 am on Sunday morning to head to the Abingdon Marathon. We got there in plenty of time at 8 am, perfect timing as usual by Keith. We made our way to the start (it was a bit further than the 10 minute walk they had put on the details!). When we got there, we decided that it was a good idea to queue for the loo!! Ten loos for all, so a long wait! 8.51 am when we were done, 9 minutes till the start, oh well no time for nerves. We dashed to the start, quick warm up and were off.
I had a great 23 miles, the last 3 hurt! I had not finished long and in came Keith, looking good :)
We both went off to shower (not happy, cold!), and in the changing room I met a very happy Lorayne, who had achieved a 10 minute PB!
Fantastic day, great results!
Keith 3:21 1st v60
Lorayne 3:38 PB
Laura 3:11
Well done from WVR - we are very proud of you!

Results of September 2012 10K Handicap Race
Bit of a chilly morning on this last day of September but a good turnout for our Club 10K Time Trial
It was nice to see a lot of our members wearing their new club attire. A few new faces were spotted testing out our course.
As our official photographer, Nathan tuned up a little too late to take part in the run, but had a good excuse as he had just polished off a Triathlon earlier that morning, well done!
Helping out with the timing this morning were the two Daves (Pearce & Smith) who very kindly bought me a nice hot cup of coffee after the initial send off
Keith, deputising for Mark, set out his stall after the run to flog off his wears, as quite a few members invested in some new kit.

The beast, Corfe Castle "A girls day out".
This past Sunday was "The Beast" at Corfe Castle.Lorayne, Laura, Sachiko and I all set off together, which was a nice way to make our way to Corfe, as we chatted all the way down (and all the way back up also!) Tips, racing strategies, hydration, fuelling and all manner of subjects were discussed. Definitely the best way to get to a race!We met up with Keith in the car park, and that made the Windle Valley team. The weather was horrible -drizzle and strong wind- as I had just come back from temperatures as high as 38 degrees, but I was told it was perfect racing weather! The race itself I found surprisingly easy considering my lack of training, and Sachiko, Lorayne and I all finished within 1 minute of each other with times respectively of 1h58, 1h59 and 1h59. I was over the moon with my time, which was a 10 minutes improvement on my previous PB. Laura was 4th overall and 1st vet 35 with a time of 1h42, and Keith did 1h45.So all in all, a good day, with good company and great race results for everybody!

Windle Valley Run of the Month - Sunday 12th August
Thanks to Ken for hosting the August run of the month at Pirbright, and to Mark Coxhead for providing photo evidence!
Mark informs that "the course route touched the perimeter of Brookwood Cemetry, down to Fox Corner to White's farm, then to the green at Pirbright and around to Pirbright church".
Thanks to everyone who come along.
