January 2012 10K Handicap
Given that it came just a few hours after the finish of the annual dinner dance at Chobham Golf Club on the Saturday night, January's 10K saw a very good turn-out, not too many bleary eyes or hangovers, and some fine performances!
A cold calm morning gave ideal conditions for running, but meant apprentice scorers Tony and Steve had a challenge to keep warm.
The results were:
Well done to all the runners.

And the winners are........
The 2012 Club Dinner Dance, and 2011 Awards Presentation, was held on 28th January at Chobham Golf Club. The evening saw 73 members and guests wining and dining with excellent catering as always by the golf club, followed by the 2011 club awards and trophies, and then a few hours of dancing the night away. Jo Smith had done a fantastic job of decking the dining suite out in club green and black, plus club-themed balloons, and also in arranging for the evening to run smoothly for everybody.
The club trophy winners for 2011 are:
Mens Champion: Danny Mahoney
Ladies Champion: Christelle Gental
Peter Dimmock Trophy: Robin Wakefield
Roland's Trophy: Geoff Williams
There were special awards for our outgoing Mens and Ladies Captains, Chris and Katie. Also a special presentation was made for Barry and Jonathan, both stepping down after many years on the club committee. The club has benefited greatly from all their efforts over the years.
The evening was made even more special because it was Nathan Green's 40th Birthday, an event that was celebrated in style, and which gave everyone an excuse to sing and to eat big chunks of chocolate cake!

Frimley Park Run - New Year's Day
Just a few of our Windle Valleyers who turned up for the
“One Hundred” Park Run in Frimley this morning. I did not run myself as I was
the Official Shootist!
Those who have not participated in the Park Runs as yet
then, if they wish to, just get onto the Park Run Site http://www.parkrun.org.uk
and register plus download your personal Race Bar Code. It is all free!
However, it was a good turnout for the New Year Race
Pete Manion stormed in first out of the Windle Crew. He was
Placed 10th and
clocked 19.24
Next was Simon
Calderbank 21.16
Russell Conaway was a first timer at this event and clocked
in at 22.29
Robin Wakefield zoomed in under the 24min
mark at 23.54
Chris Dent cruised in a little
later - 24.31
Next came Russell’s lad, Reece with a blinding first time
event
putting us all to
shame - 24.33
Anne Maria was our first lady in & her lads competed in
the
one lap event 27.54
Pam Berriman sailed in and was placed 95th
leaving behind
her another 37 bodies, 28.10

the rest of the Club Members
Cheers
Tony Sheridan
Come and race next week - from Tony Sheridan
I am just trying to round up a few bods to participate in a
New Year race that will be held in Great Windsor Park on the 8th
January
As in the past, we usually join up with our friends from
Woking Athletic Club who run under the name of “Magic”
It is run as a MABAC Cross Country League event and has a
large following. This park run will be managed by Runnymede Runners
It is an 8 mile race and can be a bit hilly, so not for the
faint hearted!
The idea is to beat your own age in minutes so a good
challenge for the New Year
There is no fee and it will be run on the road. The start
time is 1100 hrs
Take some pins along for your Race Number
The event start and finish is located about 800m from
Blacknest Gate just past the first bridge
For more information about this event, then please contact
Tony Sheridan Land Line 01276 471 931 or
Mob 07831 785 695
Cheers
Tony
