Tamarindo Beach Marathon 2011 - Robin Wakefield

The Pacific Ocean, sun, beaches, tropical heat and humidity -- and a marathon starting at 5.00 in the morning!

Robin Wakefield has been to Costa Rica to take on a marathon in the toughest of conditions, and survived to tell the tale. Great stuff.

Bexhill Poppy Half Marathon - Robin Wakefield reports.....

I struggled to complete the Bexhill Poppy Half Marathon in a half-decent time this Sunday just gone.  It was 4 laps of the seafront, but in one direction there was a strong headwind blowing which really slowed me down.  It was quite a warm day too, which never helps with me.  Anyway, my official time from the results page is shown below (560 runners in total).

Captain Dee writes.....

Well it's five weeks today to Christmas Day!! Where has this year gone?

Something to look forward to post-Christmas is our annual 'dinner and dance', Sat 28 January 2011, thoroughly recommended if you have not attended before. Make a note of the date now!

Some news to share.....

Well done to Sabine, Lorayne and Jo who recently completed the 'Gower half marathon' in the lovely South Wales. It's difficuly rating is described as 'severe' and just so we can imagine what it was like, see attached the elevation graph, along with a piccy. Nice one girls!

Hot off the press..........Laura and Keith completed the Luton marathon yesterday and both came first in their categories (Laura was 4th lady home).

I will be attending the WVR committee meeting on 14 December; do let me know if you have any items you wish me to raise.

Best wishes,
Dee
